Every year on March 8, we celebrate International Women's Day (IWD)—a global movement recognising the achievements, strength, and resilience of women. At Y Queensland, we honour this day by celebrating diversity, inclusion, and the vital role women play in shaping our communities.
We are incredibly lucky to have dedicated, passionate, and inspiring women, gender-diverse individuals, and those who identify as women across our organisation. Their invaluable contributions drive our mission forward, helping us build thriving, healthy, and connected communities.

From supporting young people in our schools to leading programs in our fitness centres, running our community spaces, providing safe housing, and empowering families in our early learning and OSHC services—our staff and volunteers make a lasting impact every day. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering commitment and dedication.

Reflecting on IWD 2024: Inspire Inclusion

In 2024, Y Queensland celebrated IWD with the theme Inspire Inclusion, encouraging diversity, empowerment, and breaking barriers. As part of this, we launched Women & Their Y—a campaign inviting staff and volunteers to share their thoughts on what the theme meant to them. Their reflections highlighted the importance of fostering environments where all women—regardless of background, ability, or identity—are valued and supported.

Marching Forward in 2025

This year, we are continuing the Women & Their Y celebration, inviting even more voices to be heard. The 2025 IWD theme, March Forward: For ALL Women and Girls, reminds us to keep pushing for gender equality, breaking down barriers, and ensuring that all women feel empowered and included.

The journey doesn’t stop here! We remain committed to championing diversity, celebrating achievements, and creating inclusive spaces where all women can thrive. If you have a story to share, we’d love to hear from you!

Let’s keep moving forward together.
